Lund Boat gets on board with hiring female applicants ? Business ...

New York Mills-based Lund Boat and parent company Brunswick Corp. have agreed to settle sex discrimination charges filed by the U.S. Department of Labor?s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).

The OFCCP, which enforces em??ployment law compliance among federal government contractors, had alleged that Lund Boat illegally re??fused to hire as many as 185 qualified female applicants. Lund and Bruns??wick hold federal contracts worth more than $248 million, providing equipment to the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.

Under the settlement, the scorned applicants will split $295,000. The company must also hire at least 27 of the women as jobs become available. Lund had already hired seven of the women before the parties settled.
