NEW YORK, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices hovered near $101 Monday while the dollar fell against the euro and the yen.

Oil had support from Friday's Labor Department report that said 200,000 jobs were added to the economy in December, dropping the unemployment rate to 8.5 percent.

Oil shifted slightly lower, but hung above a new plateau that began with the new year. On the New York Mercantile Exchange, West Texas Intermediate crude oil for February delivery lost 23 cents to $101.33 per barrel.

Home heating oil prices rose 1.3 cents to $3.0715 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline added 3.9 cents to $2.7555 per gallon. Henry Hub natural gas prices lost 0.5 cents to $3.012 per million British thermal units.

The national average price of unleaded gasoline at service stations rose from Sunday's $3.371 per gallon to $3.374, AAA said.
