The alien invasion is not upon us. At least, not yet. The mystery of the "Cincinnati Lights," caught in this video, captured the interest of? locals and UFO fans on the Web.
But it looks like the person who shot the video of mysterious light formations also solved the puzzle. The lights seem to be coming, not from an otherworldly spaceship, but from skydivers at a nearby high school football game.
The videographer, with the handle Galuyasdi on YouTube, concluded that it was a pyrotechnic show for La Salle High School's homecoming game on Sept. 28.
As NBCNews.com points out, other spooky sightings have sparked news reports that were later debunked.
Unexplained daytime lights over New York City in October 2010 sparked some to claim UFOs were flying overhead. The intrepid New York Daily News came up with a more likely explanation: Some escaped balloons from a party in suburban New York City that schoolkids were holding for their teacher.
As 9-year-old Nia Foster explained to the Daily News, "They looked big and they were all together, so it looked like one UFO."
But as we now know, looks can be deceiving.
