The nativity scene outside the Royal Poinciana Chapel on Cocoanut Row in Palm Beach will be missing two sheep this holiday season.
A worker at the church noticed that two of the church's 13?sheep were missing during the weekend.?
"I'm sure it was probably teenagers with nothing better to do (who took the sheep)," parishioner Bob Ostelino said.
The Rev. Robert Norris said each sheep?costs $1,200. Norris said a police report was filed.
"It makes me sad," Norris said.
This is not the first time thieves have?stolen from the church.
Someone took the baby Jesus from its manger a week before Christmas last year. It was never recovered.
"Jesus was never found," Norris said. "At least this one."
Norris isn't optimistic the sheep will be returned.
"I have a sense that this is more of a perpetration of the nay-saying of Christmas and, in that sense, it's a more symbolic theft than it is something that somebody took because they really wanted it," Norris said. "So the answer is I'm not all that encouraged by it."
